Sparring is the language of love in Street Fighter, and if you level up your mastery of a character’s fighting style enough, they’ll ask you to spar with them. If you gift the correct present, you'll add a whopping five points to their friendship meter. Most of these gifts will only award one or two points depending on the fighter, but everyone also has that one gift they really love. The more well-rounded a character is, the more "boring" they're gonna be to play for some. You can buy gifts from various merchants dotted all over the globe or from beating the snot out of random civilians, which can then be given to your desired character for some sweet friendship gains. I definitely prefer playing Kimberly over her, I find that she's way more fun, but she has shortcomings like no DP, only has reversal super, no huge way to attack the opponent's drive gauge outside of can setups, lacks reliable ways to get in, feels a little "knowledge check-y", and has lower damage than the rest of the cast. She's just an "honest" strike/throw character with an incredibly strong neutral she can mix up with dive kicks. Her buttons feel good, her combos are satisfying, setting up pressure is fun, but she doesn't really have any gimmicks. I think she's fun strictly from how effective she is. She's not the most complex or unique character, you kind of pick her if you just want to play street fighter because she does everything the game demands so well. I feel there's also a lot of oki setups to explore with her. Everything has counters.Ĭammy is already super good, she literally has everything she needs, at least in terms of tools. Right now the risk/reward for the move is not there, that's the biggest downside, not the fact that it has counters. I think mostly the buff I'd like to see for it is just not getting punished too hard for using it. It's a lot of the strengths of Kim's tools at higher level of play for example. There a re whole character built around being fake and deceptive. An option being "fake" doesn't necessarily make it bad. You condition with it, basically.Ī lot of things have simple counters on paper that once they're mixed in to a diverse set of offensive options adds to the oppressiveness of a character. Most of us aren't playing in tournaments and can get away with using it once in a while to add to the opponent's mental stack, even if it's not a strong option, and once you start using it for oki or resets where it definitely becomes a strong tool because you actually can't jab that without getting counterhit, it starts to feel really oppressive. It's not a strong neutral option at all, I'm just saying the fact that it's there makes her approach in general stronger, that is, if you represent it. Want to discuss Capcom in general?
